The Importance of staying Hydrated this summer!!
According to the Harvard Health Letter, healthy adults need 30 to 50 ounces of fluid per day. Drinking fluids is crucial to maintaining the function of EVERY system in your body, including your heart, brain, and muscles. Fluids carry nutrients, flush bacteria and prevent constipation, which is always good! 🙂
In the oral environment it is important to recognize that hydrating can prevent tooth decay, decrease dry mouth and also decrease amounts of bacteria present. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day or eat water rich foods like lettuce, celery and fruit.
Warning signs of dehydration include weakness, low blood pressure, dizziness, confusion, or dark colored urine. If you feel or see any of these symptoms, have a glass!
It is possible to drink too much water, so check with your medical doctor if you have health concerns to be sure you’re getting the right amount. And remember, it’s hot out there, stay Hydrated so you don’t get exhausted from the heat we’ve had lately…If you have any further questions, please visit Eric and Casey Burns DDS or contact us directly, thanks for reading /CB
